How do I place an order?

Why is there a new ordering system?
CDE Press is implementing this new online ordering system to make ordering materials easier and more efficient. We understand it will take some time to get used to it, and we appreciate your patience. If you experience any issues or have any questions about placing your order, please contact CDE Press at sales@cde.ca.gov or 1-800-995-4099, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

May I still email my purchase order, credit card order, or check order to CDE Press for processing?
Yes; however the quickest way to have your order processed is with our online system. If you need assistance with your order, please contact us.

Do I need to send an order form along with my purchase order?
You may send your order form with your purchase order. However, it is not required.

Is providing only my purchase order number sufficient for placing my order?
No; we need a valid purchase order.

What is your federal tax ID number?
Our federal tax ID number is 68-0258051.

How can I request an updated W-9 form for our records?
Please email CDE Press at sales@cde.ca.gov with your request so that we may reply and attach our form.

What is your seller's permit number?
Our seller’s permit number is SRKH98-012503

Can you bill me instead of submitting a purchase order?
No; the only way we can bill you is through a valid purchase order.

I want to submit a purchase order but need to pay with a credit card. How do I do this?
We do not accept credit card payments for outstanding invoices. You can mail a check to:

May I come to your office to make a purchase in person?
No; however, you may place your order and choose “pick up” when completing your purchase. Your order may be picked up at our warehouse located in West Sacramento. Please contact us for details and to schedule an appointment to pick up your order.

How is tax calculated?
Sales tax is based on the city tax rate for your shipping address; refer to the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration web page.

We are tax exempt. How should I note this in my order?
We need to add your tax exemption information to your account before you place your order. If you are located within California and are tax exempt, email your documentation to sales@cde.ca.gov or fax it with a cover sheet to 916-323-0823. After we review your updated information, we will contact you to proceed placing your order. Your tax-exemption should automatically apply during checkout.

Why do purchase orders need to be reviewed before processing?
Purchase orders need to be valid orders from your school, institution, or business with an authorized signature. CDE Press will review this information and make sure the amount of the purchase order covers the amount of the order placed. Your purchase order will be reviewed within one business day. If you are a new vendor with CDE Press, we will need to establish your business in our vendor system, which may take several days. If you have any questions regarding this process, please contact us.

The system says that the publication I want is out of stock. Can I still order it?
No; we do not allow backordering. If you are looking for a set or module that is out of stock, contact the CDE Press at sales@cde.ca.gov or 1-800-995-4099, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

What forms of card payment do you accept?
 We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express debit/credit card payments.

What is your return policy?
All sales are final. Damaged or incorrect shipments must be reported to the Sales Office within 10 days of receipt. CDE Press will arrange for return or exchange of damaged or incorrectly shipped items at no additional charge.

Is it possible to edit my order after I’ve placed it?
No; orders cannot be edited after they’ve been placed and all sales are final. Review your order carefully before submitting.

Shipping

How long will it take to get my order?
Most orders will arrive within five to seven business days.

Can you charge my UPS or FedEx account for shipping charges?
No; CDE Press only uses FedEx and we do not allow for third party billing.

Do you offer expedited shipping?
Yes; there will be an extra charge. Select your shipping option and view the charges at checkout.

May the items in an order be shipped to multiple locations?
No; you will have to make these purchases separately.

How is the shipping calculated?
The shipping will be calculated via FedEx automatically at checkout.
Orders are shipped via ground service unless expedited shipping is requested. Additional charges apply on shipments to Alaska and Hawaii.

Can I ship to a PO Box?
No; we only ship to physical addresses.

General Information

Can I be notified when a new publication is available?
Yes. Subscribe to our Publication email list by sending a blank email to join-cde-press-updates@mlist.cde.ca.gov.

What is the difference between the standards and the framework?
The standards identify and describe the skills, knowledge, and abilities that all California students should be able to master at each grade level, beginning in kindergarten and continuing through grade twelve. The frameworks provide guidance on how to teach the standards.

Are the standards included in the frameworks?
All frameworks include the content standards, but you can buy the content standards separately as well.

How often are the standards and frameworks updated?
The State Board of Education is responsible for adopting the Content Standards. The Board may be contacted at 916-319-0827.

Curriculum frameworks are developed by the Instructional Quality Commission. For more information contact the Curriculum Frameworks and Instructional Resources Division at 916-319-0881.

Are the standards and frameworks available in a language other than English?
No; the standards and frameworks are currently available only in English from CDE.

Is California's Educational Code available from your office?
No; CDE Press does not publish or sell copies of the Education Code. The Education Code can be accessed online at the Legislative Counsel’s website

Why aren't the newest curriculum frameworks sold and is there another way I can access them?
We do not sell the newest curriculum frameworks because at this time it is not cost effective. We apologize for the inconvenience. They are available online as a PDF on the CDE website at: https://www.cde.ca.gov/ci/cr/cf/allfwks.asp.
